Arte’s History
History & Overview – ARTE Music Academy
ARTE Music Academy was founded in September 2002 by Pitsa Spyridaki and is recognized as the first Higher Education Music School in Cyprus, exclusively dedicated to music studies.
The Academy offers a four-year accredited programme, certified by SEKAP (Greek Council of Musicians) and recognized by DIPAE, leading to the award of a Bachelor’s Degree in Music. Its graduates have successfully continued their studies at prestigious universities abroad, obtaining Master’s and Doctoral degrees.
The Academy is led by Director Giorgos Georgiou, with Pitsa Spyridaki serving as Head of Course, and distinguished musician Martinos Tirimos as Artistic Advisor. The faculty consists of highly accomplished musicians and educators with professional experience in Cyprus and internationally.
ARTE provides a comprehensive and high-quality music education programme that balances academic, theoretical, and instrumental training, while fostering the development of each student’s artistic personality. This holistic approach contributes to the strong professional integration of its graduates, many of whom pursue successful careers as music educators, performers, composers, orchestra members, and conservatory directors in Cyprus and abroad.
The Academy offers a supportive and creative environment where individual expression is encouraged. With a limited number of students admitted each year, ARTE promotes close relationships, collaboration, and a strong sense of community. Students benefit from personalized guidance and are actively encouraged to participate in concerts, festivals, and national and international music competitions.
